Ms. Masters specializes in the treatment of delayed type food and chemical sensitivities. As a Certified LEAP Therapist she has been trained to utilize Mediator Release Testing (MRT®) to identify and eliminate trigger foods that are responsible for the body’s release of chemical mediators which cause pain and inflammation in the body.
Who Can Benefit from MRT®?
In her role as a LEAP therapist, Ms. Masters sees both adult and pediatric patients with food sensitivity related health problems and chronic conditions that may be worsened by food and food chemicals. Examples include, but are not limited to:
- Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
- Migraines and Chronic Headaches
- Fibromyalgia and Rheumatoid Arthritis
- Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis (IBD)
- Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD)
- Chronic Sinusitis
- Interstitial Cystitis
- Problem Eczema
- Autism Spectrum disorders
How Does MRT® Work?
MRT® is a blood test used to identify immune-based, but non-IgE mediated, adverse food and chemical reactions. The test exposes small samples of your blood against a panel of 150 foods and food chemicals. MRT® works by measuring whether the immune cells in your blood react by releasing chemical mediators capable of causing pain and inflammation when they are exposed to the test substances.
The LEAP Protocol
Based on your individual test results, a personalized elimination diet is designed to decrease symptoms. 3 hours of nutrition consultation are included in the program. Your progress is measured through completion of a symptom survey before testing and at intervals as you complete the program.
